At 4:36 am we awoke to a bit of thunderous outdoor rumbling and indoor shaking. It looks like nothing even fell off our shelves.
Ranger, upon our atypical appearance in his room, said "lights off, blanket on!" He wouldn't abide any nonsense from his slightly dazed, adrenaline-fueled parents. The shaking stopped (with the ground, though not my nervous system) as soon as we went to pick him up. He immediately went back to sleep as if crazed adults burst into his room every early morning.
Anyway, this is a great day to think about your local hazards (we have tornadoes and earthquakes here) and formulate a plan of how you'll react in case of emergency.
Please visit our earlier post on daily habits that contribute to emergency preparedness.

We felt a tremor last night, too. We had no idea what happened, until this morning. Our bedroom doors started shaking for a few seconds--I thought I was imagining things. Crazy!

Pretty handy quiz, I was wrong on more than a few.
I didn't feel a thing, but then again I sleep like the dead.
I'm home with my son today, but apparently my office building in Frankfort, KY is feeling the aftershocks this morning - the building is apparently shaking periodically.
I'm glad I'm not at work on the 18th floor today!
I, alas, slept through it. Apparently 40 miles is a sufficient buffer to keep it from waking me.
We were asleep at that time, until my dogs went nuts. I had no idea what the problem was. This morning I read about it on our paper's website.
Oh my! I'm glad you're all okay.
We thought about you here at the ol' HC. Glad to hear all is well. My family didn't notice it, with the exception of Lily (I think). She got up right about that time and came to our room.
Hi -- We felt it here in STL. Thought about you because I remembered you live in IN but wasn't sure where. Glad you're OK. Hope you're all doing well.
